Ojukwu is a 300-level Mass Communication student of the University of Lagos, standing trial over the alleged murder of Ataga.
Her charges also include: stealing and forgery alongside one Adedapo Quadri and her sister, Chioma Egbuchu.

All three defendants had their counsels present at the hearing, namely, Onwuka Egwu for the first defendant; Babatunde Busari for the second defendant and F.O Ilesanmi for the third defendant.
After listening to Ojukwu’s counsel about the authenticity of her client’s statement being compromised, Justice Yetunde Adesanya adjourned the case till Thursday, November 17, for the first defendant (Chidinma Ojukwu) to testify in the trial within trial.
On the last adjourned date, the matter couldn’t go on due to the absence of the prosecution witness.
