The United Kingdom’s electricity operator has warned residents of a potential blackout this winter if supplies run too low.
This is coming as the country is preparing for a worst-case escalation of Europe’s energy crisis.
According to UK Mail, the company in its winter forecast labelled the possibility of a blackout as “unlikely,” but also mentioned the possibility of an “extreme scenario.”
According to the director of the National grid, John Pettigrew, the boss of the National Grid, he stated that he believes that British households will find the upcoming winter ‘financially very, very hard’.
Also, reports from the Met Office warn of an increased chance of a colder-than-usual winter this year.
He also said people would receive advance notice in case of electricity cuts, which would occur in rotations to avoid hitting all parts of the country at once
He also assured that cooperation will do everything possible to manage the situation, “there could be energy shortfalls in the UK and we will manage that very carefully.’ he said.
