Nigeria’s U23 Olympic Eagles defeated the Young Taifa Stars of Tanzania 2-0 in the second leg of the 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan on Saturday.
While the first half of the game was keenly contested by both sides and ended in a stalemate, the Nigerian side took over the game from the start of the second half, as Oguniyi Omojesu put Nigeria in front with a sublime free-kick.
Success Makanjuola hit Tanzania the final blow as he scored from a spot kick to make it 2-0.
The Olympic Eagles have now progressed to the next round of the qualifiers with a 3-1 aggregate win over the Tanzanians.
Morocco will host the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations which will also serve as qualifiers for the 2024 Summer Olympics men’s football tournament in France.
