A suspected thief, Aliyu Abubakar, who was arrested for theft by the men of the Kwara State Police Command has disclosed that his wife left with his kid when she discovered that he was into stealing.
Recall that PUNCH METRO reported that Abubakar and his gang had went to rob students at the Kwara State University, Malete in the Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State where they allegedly stole 87 mobile phone, 10 laptops and 11 generators.
In an interview with The PUNCH, the 25 years old revealed that he is from Lafiagi in the Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State.
He also said that his wife left with his kid when she realized that he was into stealing.
“I had my workshop at Asa Dam Road, Ilorin until recently when I could no longer pay the rent for the shop. I’m married with a kid but my wife has left me for her village when she realised that I’m involved in stealing.”
He also revealed that he has been arrested for theft on numerous occasions, according to him, he was once arrested by the police after he stole a car that belonged to one of his customers.
“Yes, I stole the car belonging to a Yahoo boy who contracted me to make furniture for him. I billed him the sum of N600,000 and he paid me only N400,000 out of the money. He promised to pay the balance of N200,000 on Saturday but I stole his car on Friday and changed the colour of the car from red to black. He did not know that I was the one who stole his car.”
While addressing his last arrest by the police, he said he the police found the items he stole from the students of Kwara State University at a check point.
He however stated that he stole six phones and three laptops and that the rest of the items were recovered from the home of one of his gang member who introduced him to the stealing, Apalando.
“We stole six phones and three laptops from the hostel at Malete.
“But the police said you were found with 87 phones, 10 generators and two laptops”.
