Two kids who were kidnapped at their home in Gaa Osibi, Ilorin West Local Government Area, Kwara State have managed to escape after their captors reportedly fell asleep.
Alfa Tunde Aribidesi, a businessman from Ojatuntun, Baboko, Ilorin, was murdered on September 29, 2022, and his children, Jamiu (12) and Sambo (15) were abducted.
The kidnappers were said to have demanded N10 million in exchange for the children’s release.
However, it was discovered that the two kids fled on Sunday night while their kidnappers dozed off in the jungle.
“The kidnappers used the phone of our late father to contact our family for N10m ransom, but we escaped from the bush when they (kidnappers) were sleeping and we arrived at our house early in the morning,” Sambo said
The development was confirmed by a medical doctor (name withheld), who said the two children were in his facility.
While negotiations with the kidnappers were ongoing, a friend of the deceased, Alfa Lawal Taoheed, had asked for prayers for the safe return of the children on Facebook.
He wrote, “The family arranged N7m through a representative. Unfortunately, the kidnappers could not tell the man where exactly to meet them or drop the money, which made him return with it.”
