The Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa has revealed why the United Arabs Emirates is denying entry to Nigerians.
Recall that some Nigerians who travelled recently to Dubai were detained at the airport and their passports seized. Few were seen demanding answers after their passports were seized without explanation.
Dabiri-Erewa in an August video which was reposted on the official Twitter handle of NIDCOM on Thursday, said that the Dubai authorities have now made their visa processes more stringent for visitors.
She said, “So what the Dubai authorities have done is this, they’ve made their visa processes more stringent. If you’re below 30, no visa for you, male below 30. It’s very difficult, they make it so stringent that you are not likely to fulfil it, it doesn’t matter who you are.
“Secondly, if you are going to Dubai now, you have to provide a six-month bank statement, you have to have your return ticket and you must show proof of accommodation, where are you going to stay.”
“If you lie about where you are going to stay, they’re going to know so they’re going to turn you back.” she stated.
Recall the recent warning by the Chairman/CEO of https://t.co/KNmIkUdx0w, Hon. Dr. Abike Dabiri-Erewa.
The age range is now below 40.
However, to evade the new visa rules, some request “family visas”
However, on arrival some travel alone. No family.#Thread https://t.co/kqCgzZ9yri pic.twitter.com/NUAppGIym4— Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (@nidcom_gov) September 1, 2022
