Netizens have reacted to the arrest of Hip hop rapper and singer, Ice Prince fondly known as Ice Prince Zamani, by the Lagos State Police Command on Friday.
Punch Metro reported that the 35-year-old rapper was arrested in the wee hours on Friday for driving without license plates and abducting a police officer and would be arraigned in a Lagos court.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the incident said the rapper after being caught driving without a license, assaulted the officer who confronted him, threatening to throw him into a river.
Sharing a photo of the rapper on Twitter, Hundryin wrote, ”At 3am today, @Iceprincezamani was stopped for driving without license plates. He agreed to be taken to the station. He, thereafter, abducted the police officer in his car, assaulted him and threatened to throw him in the river. He has been arrested and would be arraigned today.”
However, the news was met with mixed reactions from thousands of social media users who expressed disbelief, confusion and disappointment over the incident.

@bissiriyu wrote; ‘‘These celebrities sef. You have the means to get a driver’s licence but you decided not to. You were arrested for it, instead of you to settle your way on the spot, you asked to be taken to the station where you knew matters could get worse if care is not taken. Na wa o.”
This is just as @KevinEkerete tweeted, “Nigeria police have over time made it very difficult for the people to trust them. Not saying Ice Prince wouldn’t do what he was accused of, but they (police) have definitely sugarcoated it.”
@John Ibekwe wrote; ‘‘A generation that wants to put an end to the old order showing they are likely to be worse. Nigerians should know that the new order we seek comes with high level of responsibility. Some of us are probably not ready for the new Nigeria we want to see.’‘
