The Vice Presidential Candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Senator Kashim Shettima, has been trolled on Twitter over his outfit to the Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association.
Punch Metro reported that the absence of his principal – the APC Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, left some Nigerians displeased after his opponents, Atiku Abukar of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party; and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, graced the event held in Lagos State.
While tweeps slammed the former Lagos governor for his absence at the event, Shettima’s oversized suit stole the show for a moment and became the top trending topic on Twitter as of the time of filing this report.
Reno Omokri – a former presidential aide and a loyalist to the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, was one of those who criticised Shettima’s outfit.
“This is Tinubu’s running mate at the NBA Conference today. Look at his feet. Who in his right mind wears a suit and tie, and then puts on a pair of gym shoes to a conference? If Shettima does not know how to dress himself, how can he address Nigeria’s challenges?.” he asked.
Of the almost 40 thousand tweets, one user with the username @firstladyship was quick to note that the former Borno State governor did not wear a smile.
She tweeted, “The so-called “owner” of Lagos sent in Shettima to represent him, in a conference held in Lagos. Tinubu will not attend the Presidential Debate. Please, Shettima should wear a smile sometimes.”
Another tweep with the username @Odogwu_Nomso blamed the fashion designer of the APC vice presidential candidate for the outfit. He wrote, “Fashion Designer do Shettima this one.”
