Nigerian actor, Debo Adedayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni has called on the Federal Government and the Association of Academic Staff Union of Universities to end the ongoing strike of the union.
Mr Macaroni made the call on his verified Twitter handle, where he accused the government of ‘crippling the Education of Nigerian Students.
ASUU had been on strike since Monday, February 14, 2022, and the recent negotiation between the union and the FG on Tuesday ended in a dead-end.
“The meet with the FG’s team was headed by Professor Nimi Briggs and it started by 12:00 pm and ended by 3:00 pm. There was no new offer on the table, they simply begged us to call off the strike”., a top ASUU official told the media.
Also confirming the development, a member of the ASUU National Executive Committee who asked not to be quoted explained to newsmen that the government was “unserious” with the negotiations.
Reacting to the latest development, the ‘Ayinla’ actor tweeted, “The Nigerian Government and ASUU must consider the future of Nigerian Youths and End this strike.
“This has gone on for too long and it is unfair! Una Dey use The People money send una children abroad to study while crippling the Education of Nigerian Students! Do better!!!”
