Disgruntled motorcyclists in the Federal Capital Territory on Monday stage a protest against the seizure of their motorcycles.
PUNCH Metro gathered that the task force stormed the Goza area along Airport Road, Abuja, to clamp down on the riders. In protest, the motorcycle riders blocked the road in protest, causing traffic.
A motorist, who spoke anonymously for security reasons, said the motorcycle riders caused the unrest.
He said, “The FCT task force raided this area and seized 13 motorcycles of those operating on the expressway. They had warned them to stop using the highway, which was why the task force came. But they angrily blocked the road afterwards, which led to traffic. “
Another motorist, who identified himself only as Kingsley for fear of being attacked, said the protesters burnt tyres on the road, welded sticks and turned back motorists.
He said, “They told us to turn back; we could not disobey. Others who did not know what was going on were also hastily making U-turns. It was a rowdy atmosphere. I was later told they were doing so to protest against the seizure of their motorcycles.“
