Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Security, Sola Subair, has disclosed that at least 120 cultists have been arrested in the last three months, out of which 100 have been remanded across the state.
Subair disclosed this on Friday during a security meeting with the Akarigbo and paramount ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi.
Subair, who is a retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, said the state government would not condone criminal activities, adding that war against cultism was total.
At the security meeting, those also in attendance include members of the state security team, the consultant to the governor on Security, Awolowo Ajogun, a retired commissioner of police; Senior Special Assistant on Security, Biyi Odubote; Divisional Police Officers in Sagamu and some traditional rulers and chiefs.
Subair said the meeting was to brief the monarch of the security situation in Remoland, especially Sagamu, which recently served as rival cult groups’ battlefield, leading to the loss of lives.
He said, “The governor has maintained his resolve to use the instrumentality of the law to deal decisively with anyone who wants to disrupt the peace of any part of the state. In the last three months, no less than 120 cultists have been arrested while 100 of them are on remand through court orders. Security of lives and property has improved greatly in Remoland.”
The Akarigbo commended the governor for his efforts in ensuring that every part of the state is safe for all.
