Joe Aribo found the back of the net for Southampton in their heavy 5-1 defeat to Chelsea at St. Mary’s on Wednesday.
The Nigerian midfielder’s goal marked his second in the Premier League this season, having scored his first in a 3-2 loss to Leicester back in October.
Chelsea took the lead early, with Axel Disasi scoring in the seventh minute, but Aribo leveled things up just four minutes later.
Christopher Nkunku and Noni Madueke then extended Chelsea’s lead with goals in the 17th and 34th minutes, respectively.
Southampton’s chances took a further hit when they were reduced to 10 men in the 39th minute. Chelsea capitalized, with Cole Palmer adding a fourth in the 76th minute before Jadon Sancho sealed the victory in the 87th.
The defeat leaves Southampton rooted to the bottom of the table with five points, while Chelsea sit in second place with 28 points.
